Happy VholdR Day to Me!

I have the coolest brother in the world. He sent me a brand new VholdR ContourHD helmet cam for my birthday. Brother’s don’t get any cooler than than that. Thanks Stephen. You rule. VholdR rules too for giving him a sweet deal on them (did I say them? He picked one up for himself too…) Proper review will come in due time, but first impressions are really, really, really good.

I finally got out to Pass Mountain to give it a first run. Here’s the raw footage. I can’t edit the HD videos on my computer…it doesn’t have enough computing juice to play in High Def. I just shot a few short segments climbing to the north lookout, and a few sessions dropping down off the saddle. You can see the rest of the vids at http://vholdr.com/users/mtbikeaz.

I planned to shoot the entire ride from the saddle back to Usery Pass road, but I ended pinch flatting a couple of minutes down. No spare tubes, no patches, ghetto tubeless wouldn’t hold due to the sidewall tear in my cross mark… I had to walk out. My first flat in over 3 years. Tube, a four letter word. At least now I have a really good reason to buy a new Larsen TT UST.

  • Matt, yes, video footage of all trails will be nice…it gives me a new reason to get out and ride – and ride faster… no one likes slow video footage…

  • Suave- let’s just hope you turf it good for the camera!

  • I think I’m just as excited as you are. Your trail reviews/descriptions, gps tracks and picutres were great as it were. Now we get video footage as well…sweet!

  • ricosuave

That is awesome! Now you can get some sweet footage of me in front of you turfing it at Interbike!

  • Sam’s vids rock. No way I’m competing with him. Until I get a superpowered computer with enough juice to edit HD, I’ll be posting raw footage only. Thanks for the link to Darren’s helmetcam post. Good info there.

  • now you can compete with U2metoo on videos. He’s hard to beat though, with music and all the time he puts into them. i like the graphs and stats. The gps stuff is awesome. I need to get one. I can get by with video with something like darren created for now.
