Javelina Trail, South Mountain

Javelina Trail

Javelina starts from the 46th Street lot just south of Baseline. It begins as a rocky doubletrack that turns into wide forgiving singletrack as it ascends toward the Ridgeline and Mormon Loop trails. It’s a great warm up for Mormon or National. It climbs just over 400 feet in 1.8 miles.

Coming down Javelina is fast and fun no doubt. It sure beats the crowded Pima Canyon trail back to the Pima lot if you parked there. Javelina is just one more sweet trail on South Mountain. Not a destination trail by any means, but a great warmup climb and a fun decent for just about any level rider that’s in some kind of shape.

  • Thanks for the review. You have a sweet site there. Great info and maps. Awesome.

  • Fast and flowy downhill from mormon trail back to 46 parking lot off baseline road. Would be fine climb as well and best single track access to National or Mormon trails. Comparable to many climbs in Fruita, Co.
