The skinny: You will soak in breathtaking views of Picketpost mountain as you climb this segment of the Arizona Trail around and away towards the Gila River.
The Arizona Trail covers 800 miles from Mexico to Utah. Phoenicians can sample the sweetness AZT has to offer right from Picketpost trailhead (just 20 minutes further than the King’s Ranch exit to Gold Canyon). This little epic is part of the Alamo Canyon Passage (PDF map) and will give you a glimpse of some of Arizona’s finest singletrack in one short afternoon.
After riding this little slice of MTB heaven, you just may want to explore more of the Arizona trail…maybe even race the Picketpost Punisher (just ask John) or if you are particularly ANGRY, the AZT300!
Happy reading.
I still love this trail!
